KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 02, 2026: A total of 281 persons were caught driving under the influence of alcohol by the Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police on the eve of New Year celebrations on Wednesday night.
Similarly, the police seized 224 vehicles for not having number plates and not possessing the required documents for the vehicles. The cases have been registered against drunken driving and vehicles.
The police also imposed fines of Rs 35,000 (68 cases) for contact e-challans and Rs 4,97,875 (1025 cases) for non-contact e-challans. Besides, the Traffic police also imposed e-challans for various violations. In all, a total of 6,24,920 was imposed as e-challans.

Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam had personally monitored the drunken driving and imposition of e-challans. With extensive planning and sustained enforcement by the Traffic Police, no major road accidents were reported anywhere in Cyberabad during the New Year celebrations.
