
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 30, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a medical shop located at Mamillagudem, Khammam, which was operating illegally without a drug license, and seized drugs that were stocked for sale at the unlicensed premises.
Following the credible information, the DCA officials visited the medical shop located at Mondi Gate, Mamillagudem, Khammam, on Saturday. P.V. Narendra Kumar was running a medical shop at the said premises illegally, without a drug licence.
During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorised stocking of a huge quantity of medicines for sale. A total of 101 varieties of medicines, including antihypertensive drugs, antidiabetic drugs, antibiotics, analgesics, etc., were found stocked for sale at the premises, and the stock, worth Rs. 30,000, was seized during the raid.
Ch. Anil Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Khammam Urban and G. Aswani, Drugs Inspector, Kothagudem, carried out the raid under the supervision of M. Aravind Kumar, Assistant Director, Khammam. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out, and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

Wholesalers/Dealers who supply medicines to such unlicensed shops, which are stocking and selling drugs without a drug license, are also punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and stringent action shall be taken against such Wholesalers/Dealers. Wholesalers/Dealers shall mandatorily ensure that the recipient entities hold a valid drug license before supplying medicines to them.
Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, issues drug licenses for the stocking and selling of medicines in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Stocking drugs for sale without a drug license is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with imprisonment for up to five years.
DCA Director-General Shahnawas Qasim said that the public may report any complaints regarding illegal activities related to medicines, as well as any other suspected manufacturing activities concerning drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
