HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 24, 2025: The Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD), inaugurated Audit Week 2025 today at the Accountants General Office Complex, Hyderabad. Senior officers, staff members, and invited dignitaries attended the ceremony, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration of professional excellence, institutional learning, and collaborative engagement. Dr. C. Suvarna, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) & Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Government of Telangana, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Delivering the inaugural address, Ms Chanda Pandit, Principal Accountant General (A&E), Telangana, referred to the recently held AGs’ Conference, where over 100 Accountants General and Heads of Department from across the country deliberated on the theme “Leading Change & Reaffirming Values: Trust, Innovation, Sustainability, Accountability.” She noted that the conference set a forward-looking agenda for public audit, with particular emphasis on data integration, AI-driven analytics, and sustainability imperatives.
A significant initiative highlighted during the event was the development of the CAG-LLM, an indigenously built Large Language Model. Designed not only to enable automation but also to deliver predictive insights, anomaly detection, and risk assessment, the CAG-LLM is expected to enhance the precision and impact of audit work. By leveraging data synergies and AI capabilities, the department is preparing for sharper, more focused, and evidence-based audits.
A major milestone announced was the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Financial Audit (CoEFA) at Hyderabad, part of the National Academy of Audit and Accounts ecosystem. Designed as an incubator for global best practices, research, and professional development in financial auditing, CoEFA is scheduled for a soft launch on 26 November 2025. The Centre is expected to become a national and international benchmark for high-quality audit practice.
Dr C. Suvarna, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) & Head of Forest Force (HoFF), in her address, emphasised the significance of observing Audit Diwas as a national reminder of the essential role of independent audit in strengthening democratic governance. She highlighted the importance of performance audits and field audits in ensuring that public expenditure results in meaningful developmental outcomes.
Dr Suvarna commended the contributions of International Institutions of IA&AD, like ICED and ICISA, in enhancing professional competence within the IA&AD. She underscored the core values of professionalism, integrity, and objectivity, noting that the department has evolved into a rich repository of institutional knowledge and field-based experience. She further observed that the CAG of India today commands strong international credibility, with growing engagement in INTOSAI and other global audit platforms.

Throughout Audit Week, offices of the Accountant General – (Audit), Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlement), Director General of Audit (Central), Principal Director of Audit (Commercial) and Director General of Audit (Railways, Secunderabad) in Hyderabad and across India will host a diverse set of activities including technical workshops, stakeholder sessions, quizzes, cultural events, and outreach programmes.
