KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 21, 2025: Students of SRR Government Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, received special appreciation from Collector Pamela Satpathy for securing top honours in the District-Level Youth Cultural Competitions conducted by the District Youth Services and Cultural Affairs Department.
A team of BA students, led by Nakka Shivaram, participated in the ‘Oggu Katha’ event—an age-old Telangana folk art that is slowly fading from public platforms. Demonstrating exceptional skill and cultural depth, the SRR team clinched the First Prize, earning recognition for both their talent and their commitment to preserving local traditions.
Addressing the participants, District Collector Pamela Satpathy congratulated the students and stressed the importance of reviving and promoting ancient folk arts like Oggu Katha. She noted that youth engagement in such traditional art forms is vital for safeguarding Telangana’s cultural identity for future generations.
College Principal Kalvakunta Ramakrishna commended the students’ dedication, stating that discovering and nurturing artistic abilities among youth helps breathe new life into indigenous cultural practices. “When students participate in folk arts with passion, it strengthens our cultural roots and inspires others,” he added.
The event was attended by District Sports Officer K. Srinivas, District Youth Officer Rambabu, District Science Officer Srinivas Reddy, NSS Officer G. Rajender, College Yuva Tourism Club Coordinator K. Sudhakar, and faculty member A. Ramkishan. All dignitaries praised the students for showcasing exemplary talent and contributing to the revival of folk traditions.
The accomplishment of the SRR College students not only highlights their artistic brilliance but also reflects the institution’s continuous efforts to promote cultural awareness and encourage student participation in heritage art forms.
