KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 18, 2025: The Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Nagunuru, Karimnagar, organised a drug awareness camp on its premises as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukht Bharath Abhiyaan’ on Tuesday. The initiative aimed to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Additional Collector (local bodies) Dr Aswini Tanaji Wakade along with SUDA Chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy, has formally inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion, Aswini stressed the importance of early awareness and timely prevention in combating drug addiction. “Effective de-addiction efforts involve awareness programmes, counselling and continuous support to help individuals break free from drug dependency,” she said.
Underlining the need for college-based interventions that focus on education, motivation and rehabilitation, helping students build resilience and reduce the risk of substance abuse, Dr Aswini said, “You are just as happy as you make up your mind to be,” highlighting the crucial link between mental well-being and lifestyle choices.
The awareness programme was organised as part of a broader outreach programme and raised awareness about the perils of substance abuse through education and community involvement. Excise Superintendent Srinivas Rao, DMHO Dr Venkataramana, PIMS principal Dr John Israel, vice principal Dr Kishan Reddy, Medical superintendent Dr CN Prasad, CAO Dr Ramachandra Rao, Dr TKK Naidu and others were also present.
