
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 06, 2025: An awareness programme on Cybercrime was organised today at Government Degree College, Rajendranagar, to educate students about the growing threat of online crimes and promote safe digital practices.
The session was delivered by P. Uma Devi, Sub-Inspector, RGIA, Shamshabad, who explained in detail the various types of cybercrimes prevalent in society today. She enlightened the students about crimes such as impersonation, digital video call arrests, online trading frauds, face masking, fake links, fake URLs, fraudulent social media accounts, and the misuse of photos and identities.
Uma Devi also sensitised the students about cyber laws, punishments for cyber misconduct, and the importance of reporting suspicious online activities. She emphasised that victims should not hesitate to approach the police or contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930 for immediate assistance.

During the session, she also highlighted the role of teamwork in investigating cybercrimes and the legal consequences of offences involving digital misconduct. Her insightful presentation created strong awareness among students about responsible internet usage and digital safety.
Principal M Himabindu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Uma Devi for sparing her valuable time to guide and educate the students with practical insights and preventive measures.
The programme was coordinated by S. D. Bhavani, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, NSS Programme Officer, and WEC Coordinator. S. Ravinder Reddy, Assistant Professor of Economics, also actively participated in the event. The session concluded with an interactive discussion where students clarified their doubts regarding cyber safety and preventive actions.
