

HANAMKONDA, OCTOBER 18, 2025: Kakatiya Government College (Autonomous) hosted an engaging and innovative workshop on Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) Skills for its undergraduate students, blending language learning with the popular Chota Bheem stories. Held on Saturday (October 18), the event was chaired by Prof Srinivas, the college Principal, who also served as the Chief Guest. The workshop, jointly organised by the Department of English and the College Literary Club, aimed to enhance students’ language skills using a fun and familiar approach.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Srinivas, the Chief Guest, emphasised the importance of English language skills in today’s globalised world. He stressed that mastering the four core language skills—Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing—opens up a world of opportunities, especially in academic and professional settings. Prof. Srinivas emphasised the importance of effective communication in English, highlighting how it fosters personal growth and contributes to success in both local and international contexts. He applauded the innovative approach of integrating storytelling with language learning, encouraging students to embrace creative methods to strengthen their English proficiency.
Mr T.S. Praveen Kumar, Convener of the Literary Club, alongside Prof. Sridevi, Secretary, and A. Srinath, Head of the Department of English, ensured the workshop’s success. With 30 selected students, chosen for their proficiency in English across various disciplines, the event provided a dynamic and interactive platform for learning.
Interactive Learning with Chota Bheem Stories
The workshop featured presentations by distinguished faculty members of the Department of English, each focusing on different language skills:
- Satyanarayana focused on Listening Skills, helping students improve comprehension and auditory focus through Chota Bheem stories. Students practised active listening techniques, identifying main ideas, and following the narrative’s flow. Various exercises engaged them in discussing characters, events, and lessons, honing their listening abilities.
- Bhukya Srinivas Rathod led sessions on Speaking Skills, encouraging students to practice pronunciation and fluency through dialogues from Chota Bheem. Students mimicked and improvised character dialogues, building confidence and comfort in both formal and informal conversations.
- Srinath explored Reading Skills, guiding students in narrative analysis. By analysing key themes, character development, and underlying messages, students learned to read for deeper meaning. Dr Srinath introduced strategies for critical reading and comprehension, enabling students to become more analytical and reflective in their approach to texts.
- Ram Bhaskar Raju took students through Writing Skills, where they rewrote and summarised Chota Bheem stories. Students enhanced their ability to express ideas concisely, focusing on grammar, coherence, and structure. This exercise equipped them with valuable writing skills for academic and professional contexts.
A Collaborative Effort across Disciplines
The workshop’s success was also enriched by the participation of faculty from various departments, including G. Srinivas (Commerce), Yakub (Economics), Ravinder (Chemistry), Sandhya Rani (Public Administration), Vijayalakshmi (Zoology), Mr. Demudu Naidu (Hindi), and Rajaiah (Hindi). Their involvement broadened the perspectives on language learning, fostering a cross-disciplinary approach to skill development.
T.S. Praveen Kumar played a crucial role in the workshop’s design and execution. His thoughtful selection of students, ensuring they had strong English proficiency, allowed for meaningful and engaging discussions. His meticulous planning ensured the workshop flowed seamlessly, providing a rich and dynamic learning experience. The Inaugural and Valedictory sessions were conducted with professionalism, setting high standards for the event.

The feedback from students confirmed the success of the workshop. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the structure and content of the sessions, noting that the use of Chota Bheem stories made learning enjoyable and effective. Students felt more confident in their language abilities and appreciated the interactive learning format, which allowed them to apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
