HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 11, 2025: The Geological Survey of India (GSI), Bandlaguda–Nagole, Hyderabad, has launched an e-Waste Collection Drive as part of Special Campaign 5.0, being held from 2nd October to 31st October 2025. The initiative was launched under the guidance of Shri Basab Mukhopadhyay, ADG & HID, GSI, SR, Hyderabad.
The primary aim of the campaign is to promote the scientific recycling and reuse of e-Waste (electronic waste) such as old computers, televisions, mobile phones, batteries, printers, and refrigerators—while ensuring enhanced cleanliness and environmental responsibility across government offices.
This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with Attero Recycling Private Limited, a leading e-waste recycling company, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development & Design Centre (JNARDDC). Through systematic collection and eco-friendly processing of e-waste, the drive contributes to the objectives of the National Critical Minerals Mission, reduces dependence on imports, and aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
The campaign has witnessed enthusiastic participation from GSI officers and staff. So far, over 100 participants have contributed more than 1,000 e-waste items, earning a total of approximately ₹1,40,000. The drive will continue until 31st October 2025.
Residents of the L.B. Nagar Division are encouraged to participate by donating their household e-waste—such as old computers, TVs, mobile phones, batteries, printers, refrigerators, and other electronic devices. They may contact Shri A. Srinivasu, Nodal Officer (Phone: 9989862597) to hand over their e-waste and receive compensation ranging from ₹100 to ₹4,000, informed Dr. Mallesh Ganji, Public Relations Officer, GSI Hyderabad.
