KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 10, 2025: Despite the ongoing debate over the Supreme Court’s directions to round up stray dogs and shift them to shelters, the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) officials are lethargic on the issue and are focusing mainly on encroachment of public places such as the Collectorate and parking spaces on the roads for obvious reasons.
In the same Collectorarte where the MCK officials had encroached ‘illogically with inefficient and poor vision’ to appease some persons, there is a huge dog menace with several stray dogs moving freely, causing serious inconvenience to the visitors and the employees. The employees and the visitors do not know when the stray dogs will attack them at the Collectorate and other parts of the entire Karimnagar town.
But, the MCK officials are only concerned about the encroachment of the parking space on the Collectorate premises, constructed some four decades ago with a vision by the then administrators. The present MCK feel as if the Collectorate is their private property and is causing serious inconvenience to the visitors by encroaching the premises.
“It is really scary to visit the Collectorate with so many dogs”, say the visitors. The residents also complained to the authorities for the removal of stray dogs, but in vain. However, the MCK is only concerned of encroaching the Collectorate parking space by taking up plantation of saplings for obvious reasons. Incidentally, the MCK deploying more than 10 staff members for the removal of weeds and watering the plants denying the parking space opposing the State Bank of India everyday. The SBI officials had cried foul over the district authorities as they could not park their cash vehicles on the premises.
The MCK officials should focus on the removal of stray dogs, stray cattle and pig menace and not on encroaching the parking space of the Collectorate for obvious reasons to appease some ‘persons’. The MCK should ensure that no person sells the vegetables, fruits and other products on the roads by shifting them tothe constructed vegetable markets.
The MCK should focus on the completion of the construction of market opposite Collectorate camp office and the auditorium at the SRR college grounds. But, they are only concerned of the Collectorate parking space as they feel it is their private property. They should remember that they are not permanent in the town and they should ensure some good work but do not cause inconvenience to the people of the town. It is high-time for the officials to remove the plantation on the Collecrorate premises opposite SBI and allow parking of vehicles or else it would create havoc in future.
