
SIDDIPET, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025: The NSS Unit-V of Government Degree College (Autonomous), Siddipet, under the dynamic leadership of Programme Officer A. Mahesh Kumar and the able guidance of Principal G. Sunitha, successfully organised a seven-day special camp at Peddakodur village from 12th to 18th September 2025. The camp witnessed a variety of impactful activities and programmes aimed at community service, environmental awareness, and rural development.
Throughout the camp, the volunteers engaged in several initiatives to bring positive change to the village. A massive plastic collection and awareness rally was carried out across every road and street of Peddakodur, highlighting the hazards of plastic pollution. A special “Dry Day Programme” was conducted to collect rainwater-stored articles from households and dispose of them at the village dump yard, thereby preventing mosquito breeding and spreading awareness on public health.
Volunteers also focused on solid waste management awareness, emphasizing the need for segregation and recycling of waste. As part of the “Palle Prakruthi Vanam Beautification Programme,” volunteers cleaned bushes, removed unnecessary tree branches, and beautified the village garden, making it more appealing and eco-friendly. In addition, Clean and Green activities were carried out at the ZPHS school and Primary school, where bushes were cleared and the premises were tidied up, enefiting schoolchildren and the community alike.
The selfless work of the NSS volunteers amazed the youth and elders of the village, while the Village Panchayat Secretary E. Raju and Panchayat staff extended their wholehearted support to the camp activities.
The camp also received the esteemed presence of several dignitaries. Prof. P. Vidyasagar, NSS Coordinator from Osmania University, visited the camp, expressed his surprise and admiration for the volunteers’ efforts, and appreciated Programme Officer A. Mahesh Kumar for his leadership. Prof. Senthil Kumar from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, Matta Sampath Kumar Reddy (Associate Professor of Telugu), P. Ayodya Reddy (Vice-Principal, GDCA Siddipet), Ch. Madhusudan (Assistant Professor), Mamidala Srinivas (Assistant Professor), N. Bairaiah (Assistant Professor), and J. Chary (Assistant Professor) were among the distinguished personalities who visited the camp and praised the dedication of the volunteers.
The valedictory programme was graced by College Principal G Sunitha and MEO Yadava Goud, who delivered inspiring messages to the volunteers on the importance of NSS in serving society. The event also witnessed the participation of ZPHS School Headmaster Sri Krishnamurthy and Primary School Headmaster Sri Baskar, who lauded the efforts of the volunteers.
The seven-day camp not only created a lasting impact on Peddakodur village but also instilled in the volunteers the spirit of service, discipline, and commitment towards building a cleaner and healthier society.
