RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 09, 2025: Department of Telugu of the Government Degree and PG College, Gambhiraopet, organised the Telangana Language Day celebrations to commemorate birth anniversary of eminent poet Kaloji Narayan Rao under the guidance of lecturers M. Deepika and E. Bhargavi, with the college principal Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi presiding.
Addressing the gathering, the principal said that it was commendable to celebrate Telangana Dialect Day in the college on the occasion of Kaloji Jayanthi. Kaloji is the dawn of Telangana. He proudly declared, “If I fight injustice, that is my satisfaction – if injustice is eradicated, that is my liberation. The one who resists injustice is my deity.” He lived his life with the breath of movements as a people’s poet.
Kaloji Narayana Rao was renowned as a writer in Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and English. He was a master in writing political satire. Through his famous work “Na Godava” (My Tussle), he responded boldly, frankly, and sharply to contemporary social issues, aiming his word-weapons at rulers and earning the reputation of a people’s poet. The pain, anguish, and anger of Telangana’s people took shape in his songs.
“A single spark can ignite millions of minds. Birth is yours, death is yours – but life belongs to the nation. One must write in the language one speaks. If you write in an alien tongue, how will the essence reach others? To think otherwise is to demean ourselves. This slavish mentality must go. I have said many times – language has two forms: one is the language of schools, and the other is the language of the people. The people’s tongue must prevail.”
In this manner, he expressed the greatness of the Telangana dialect and accent. The principal appreciated the students for drawing pictures related to language and congratulated the heads of the Telugu department and the students for organising the event.
