HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 05, 2025: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, celebrated Teachers’ Day on its campus today with great enthusiasm and reverence.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju emphasised the importance of values such as humility and compassion in education. He highlighted the need for teachers to continuously equip themselves with compassion, competence, and commitment to professional development in order to make meaningful contributions to society.
Prof. Nagaraju described education, as mentioned in Reimagining Futures, as an intergenerational transformative dialogue with the younger generation to co-build futures and noted that teaching today has acquired an interpretative and collaborative nature, especially in the context of India’s rich diversity. He stressed that values must be cultivated and disseminated for education to remain purposeful, and the teachers should constantly introspect and interrogate the values they would like to imbibe and uphold.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. V. Sudhakar, a retired faculty member from the Department of Education, EFLU, spoke on the enduring legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He credited Dr. Radhakrishnan for his insightful interpretation of Indian philosophy. Prof. Sudhakar asserted that mysticism is a profound source of knowledge and that learning itself is a mystical experience. He encouraged teachers to embrace multiple roles and draw upon their cultural and spiritual experiences to bring clarity and depth to their educational contexts.
The event was attended by Prof. Hari Prasad, Registrar (I/c), faculty from the Department of Education, senior professors from various departments, and a large number of students. Dr. R. Vijayalatha, Head, Department of Education, welcomed the guests and all the attendees.
