
JAGTIAL, SEPTEMBER 03, 2025: An awareness programme on JAM-2026 (Joint Admission test for Master’s) entrance examination for PG admissions into prestigious IITs was organised under the auspices of the Career Guidance Cell at Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous) Jagtial.
Professor Beerayya Bairi, who is serving as a Professor of Chemistry at IIT Madras, attended as the chief guest and delivered a lecture. He provided valuable insights to B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. students about the M.Sc. programs offered at IITs in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Geology, Mathematical Statistics, and Economics.
He dispelled the misconception that admission into IITs are possible only through the IIT-JEE examination. He highlighted that students studying at IITs and other universities differ greatly in terms of research orientation, which in turn opens up better career opportunities. He explained in detail the admission process of JAM-2026.
He further informed that the scores obtained in this exam carry weightage for admission into centrally funded technical institutions such as IISc and NITs. He also provided the students with links to previous examination papers. He patiently answered the questions raised by the students.
In the subsequent felicitation ceremony, In-charge Principal T Pramod Kumar, Career Guidance Cell Coordinator G. Neeraja, Mentor G. Thirupati, along with faculty members Chandraiah, Raheem, Ramachandram, Vasavi, Srilatha, Sujatha, Sangeeta Rani, Mallikarjun and other staff members were present.
