
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 29, 2025: Members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter celebrated its foundation day, as the foundation stone was laid for the IMA Karimnagar chapter by then Collector KS Sharma on August 29, 1981, in Karimnagar town.
To mark the occasion, the IMA Karimnagar chapter conducted a CPR awareness programme titled “IMA- Heart Beat’’ on Friday at the IMA hall in Karimnagar town. IMA president Dr Anamalla Naresh, secretary Dr Siripuram Naveen Kumar, treasurer Dr Challuri Vijay Kumar and others participated in the programme.
A CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) awareness initiative was conducted for the journalists and hospital staff on the occasion. Similarly, the IMA leaders also released posters about the CPR Heart Beat.
Speaking on the occasion, IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Anamalla Naresh said that the programme was aimed to equip the people with the skills and confidence to act during medical emergencies.
More than 76 personnel belonging to medical, nursing and paramedical staff were trained on CPR. The aim was to train healthcare personnel and community members on how to respond to emergencies of heart emergencies and quickly revive victims, including infants, children, adults and the elderly. Dr Challuri Vijay Kumar is empowered in neonatal and pediatric CPR. Approximately one million babies die every year due to asphyxia across the world, and three lakh die in India. Approximately 10 per cent of newborns, 4 to 7 million, per year, require some form of assistance at birth. This makes neonatal resuscitation, which deals with babies of asphyxia, an important intervention to reducethe neonatal mortality rate (NMR), he stated.
