KARIMNAGAR, JULY 22, 2025: Prime Minister and CSIR Chairman Narendra Modi, in his 119th Mann Ki Baat on February 23, 2025, had suggested that students should “spend a day as a scientist” and experience what it feels like to be one.
In line with this, CSIR, through its Jigyaasa programme, is implementing laboratory visits and scientist-student linkage programmes, said B Odelu Kumar, Science Teacher, Zilla Parishad High School, Indurthi, Karimnagar.
Giving directions to the programme, the CSIR is celebrating the week of July 21- July 25, 2025 as “A Day as a Scientist” week at CSIR laboratories under its Jigyaasa programme. The Science Festival focuses on providing students with the following: Scientific hands-on experiments, interactions with scientists and researchers, and direct interaction with scientists in the state-of-the-art CSIR laboratories, allowing students to “be a scientist for a day” and gain a deeper understanding of how science impacts society and drives technological progress.
The 37 CSIRs in India accommodate 75-100 students each day, based on the quizzes conducted by the students. Six students (Sahithi, Ashram Mahavish, Swapna, Sushmita, Sai Varshita) from Indurthi School were selected for CSIR Kolkata in the event. They will be visiting the CSIR laboratory on the 24th of this month. The school principal, Ch. Jayapradha and the school teaching staff, the villagers and the students were felicitated.
