HYDERABAD, JULY 04, 2025: With the inspiring thought “Nurture Nature for a Better Future,” Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, came alive with the spirit of environmental consciousness as it celebrated Vanamahotsav week, the Telangana Government’s flagship green initiative, with great enthusiasm and dedication on Friday.
Launched in 2015, Vanamahotsav aims to boost the green cover of Telangana through massive tree plantation drives and community-driven conservation efforts. The students of Sister Nivedita School wholeheartedly embraced this vision by organising a series of lively and impactful activities designed to spark environmental responsibility among students.
The celebration began with an enlightening address by the Principal, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, who emphasised the importance of empowering young minds to work towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future. She encouraged students to become torchbearers of change by embracing green habits and safeguarding the environment.
The Chief Guest, Dr. W.G. L.Prasanna Kumar, Director of the Institute for Environment Conservation and Advocacy, inspired the gathering with a powerful speech on the urgent need to protect Mother Earth. He stressed that every individual, especially students, has a role to play in conserving natural resources and creating a healthier planet for generations to come.
The program showcased an impressive skit titled “Jungle Bachao, Jungle Badhao”, where students creatively highlighted the critical issue of deforestation and the urgent need for forest conservation. This was followed by a lively song and dance performance centred around the themes of tree plantation and ecological protection.
An engaging interview session allowed students to voice their thoughts on the vanamahotsav initiative, discussing various ways in which such programs can foster a greener and more sustainable future.
The celebration concluded with a vibrant rally where students carried colourful placards and raised slogans, spreading the message of environmental conservation throughout the community.
Though unable to attend in person, Chairman Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polasani and Correspondent Rotarian Harihara Prasad conveyed their heartfelt wishes to the students. They reminded them of their collective responsibility to protect Mother Earth and urged them to continue their efforts toward environmental preservation.
Through this celebration, Sister Nivedita School reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens who are ready to lead the way towards a greener and more harmonious world.
