
Regular donors had donated 40 units of blood, and an awareness rally was conducted
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 14, 2025: World Blood Donors Day was observed by the Blood Bank of the Government General Hospital, Karimnagar town, by organising a blood donation camp and an awareness rally on Saturday.
On this occasion, the organisers had felicitated regular blood donors. The awareness rally was organised with the theme of ‘give blood, give hope, and together we save lives’. On this occasion, the regular donors donated 40 units of blood to the blood bank.
Hospital superintendent Dr Veera Reddy, Additional DMHO Dr Sudha, RMO Dr Naveena, Blood Bank Medical officer Dr Usha Khandal, NHM DPO Swamy, DPM Surender, ICTC supervisor Srinivas, Medical college students, Nursing college students and others participated in the programme.
On this occasion, the Doctors enlightened the participants about the significance of the day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Australian scientist Karl Landsteiner, the pioneer of blood transfusion techniques. They informed that any healthy individual between the ages of 18 and 65 can donate blood. A person can donate blood once every three months. They emphasized that donated blood is naturally replenished in the body within 24 to 48 hours.
