HYDERABAD, JUNE 11, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a medical shop located at Zamistanpur, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, which was operating illegally without a drug license and seized drugs that were stocked for sale at the unlicensed medical shop during the raid.
The DCA officials, acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a medical shop named New Al-Shifa Medical and General Stores, located near Bandham Function Hall, Zamistanpur, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. Mohd Saddam Hussain was running a medical shop at the said premises illegally, without a drug licence.
During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorised stocking of a huge quantity of medicines for sale—a total of 35 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, abortion kits, habit-forming drugs, viz. Alprazolam Tablets, Tramadol Tablets, IV fluids, etc., were found stocked for sale at the premises, and the stock, worth Rs. 25,000, was seized during the raid.
Saritha, Assistant Director, Secunderabad, P. Renuka, Drugs Inspector, Musheerabad, B. Govind Singh, Drugs Inspector, Secunderabad, G. Anil, Drugs Inspector, Malakpet, and M. Surendranath, Drugs Inspector, Begumpet, were among the officers who carried out the raid. The DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out, and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

The public should avoid purchasing medicines from unlicensed sources and never buy medicines from unregulated websites or other online platforms. Purchasing medicines from such sources significantly increases the risk to public health, as they are unregulated. It is advisable to purchase medicines only from licensed medical shops, which typically display their drug licenses, issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, conspicuously in a prominent place that is easily visible to the public.
Selling medicines without a license is an offence, and medicines purchased from unlicensed premises are likely to be counterfeit products.
The public can verify whether a medical shop or pharmacy holds a license issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, through the “Third-Party Verification” feature.
The public can enter the name of the pharmacy or medical shop in the search box provided under the “Third-Party Verification” section of the ODLS website at https://odls.telangana.gov.in/ThirdPartypublicview.aspx to verify the details of drug licenses issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana. This enables the public to check whether the medical shop or pharmacy is authorised to sell medicines or not.

DCA Director-General Shahnawaz Qasim said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
