KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 24, 2025: The doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar Chapter and Karimnagar Chest Society pledge to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) by 2030, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment.
As part of the World TB Day celebrations on Monday (March 24, 2025), IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Anamalla Naresh said that Tuberculosis is a poor man’s disease and the best way to control it is to improve the standard of living of people, their health, hygiene and nutritional conditions. According that the World Health Organization’s Global Tuberculosis Report 2024, India continues to lead in the global TB burden (26% of cases) and is also the hub for drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) and TB deaths, Dr Naresh stated.
He also reminded that the TB cases had declined from 237 cases in every one lakh cases in 2015 to 195 cases in the year 2023. He informed the patients to take proper medication to avoid the spread of disease to the brain and other body parts. He also said that TB could also lead to AIDS.
IMA district secretary Dr Siripuram Naveen Kumar, treasurer Dr Challuri Vijay Kumar, Karimnagar Chest Society doctors Dr Vinay Kumar, Dr Naveen Kumar and others also spoke about the dreaded TB disease and measures for its eradication.
