

’RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 01, 2025: As part of the ongoing the National Girl Child Day celebrations from January 24 onwards and which will culminate on International Women’s day on March 8, the students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College, Shatrajupally, Vemulawada conducted a ‘Mock parliament’ session under the theme of “Leadership and career opportunities: Girls as future leaders”, on Saturday.
The College had been conducting various programmes under the theme of “Empowering Girls to Lead the Future,” which reflects the college’s commitment in nurturing confident, capable young women.
The event series is designed not just to highlight the potential of students at TGSWREIS, but also to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.
Under the mock parliament session, the session provided students with a first-hand experience of parliamentary procedures, giving them a deeper understanding of governance and policymaking. Taking on roles as MPs, speaker, and Ministers, the students engaged in lively debates on contemporary issues, strengthening their public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
Beyond politics, the event also included Career Showcases and Presentations, where students put together poster exhibitions and cultural performances, celebrating their talents, aspirations, and career ambitions.
The enthusiasm and dedication of the students were matched by the active involvement of faculty members, including Principal K. Lavanya, Vice Principal B. Sumalatha, Cultural Committee Coordinator S. Sandhya Rani, Academic Coordinator Ch. Nirmala Hrudaya, Staff Secretary G. Rajini, and Program Mentors Asfiya Jabeen, B. Poolamma, K. Sujitha, K. Sangeetha, N. Sandhya Rani, K. Haripriya, and K. Sankirthana. Their support and encouragement played a key role in making this initiative a resounding success.
