The event is organised in commemoration of 175 years of Service to the Nation at Sanjeevaiah Children Park, Tank Bund, Hyderabad
HYDERABAD, MARCH 01, 2025: The Geological Survey of India (GSI), is a premier Geoscientific Organization established in 1851. It is the largest and second oldest Geological Survey in the world and is responsible for conducting Geoscientific surveys across the country, providing essential Earth Science information to the government, industry, and the public.
To commemorate its 175 years of service to the nation, GSI Southern Region (SR) and Training Institute (TI) in Hyderabad will organize a WALKATHON (Walking) event at Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park, Necklace Road, Hyderabad, on 2nd March 2025, at 08:00 AM. The primary objective of this WALKATHON is to raise public awareness about GSI’s 175 years of service to the nation’s development. The event not only highlights GSI’s contributions, but also emphasizes the importance of physical activity and mental well-being within the community.
Mr S.D. Patbhaje, Additional Director General and Head of GSI Southern Region, will inaugurate the event at 08:00 AM in the presence of senior officers of GSI. The Chairman of the event, Mr Patbhaje will release a Souvenir and address the gathering in the WALKATHON. During the occasion, 175 tricolour balloons will be released by the senior officers of GSI symbolizing 175 years of GSI’s glorious service to the country.
Additionally, an exhibition stall will be set up showcasing samples of various minerals, rocks, ores, fossil fuels, and fossils discovered by GSI since its inception in 1851. After the inauguration, dignitaries, officers and staff of GSI, students, academicians, geoscientists from various organizations, and members of the public will participate in the 3-kilometer WALKATHON from Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park to Spoorthi Sthal along Necklace Road, and back to Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park.
