
HANAMKONDA, NOVEMBER 15, 2024: A new GIS (Geographical Information System) Laboratory was inaugurated in the Department of Geology and an internship programme was launched in line with the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed between Kakatiya University and Bourntec Solutions, USA in June 2024.
Inaugurating the GIS Lab, Vice Chancellor of Kakatiya University Prof K Pratap Reddy said that as part of this internship programme the selected 3rd semester students of MSc Geology would be awarded the internship in GIS technology by Bourntec Solutions, USA., and the students would be paid Rs.7500 a month as stipend by Bourntec Solutions. “It is very useful to provide internship to students in accordance with the MoU between Department of Geology and Bourntec Solutions, USA,” added the Vice Chancellor and exhorted students to make the best use of the opportunity and get hands-on experience in GIS technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of the Department of Geology of the varsity Prof R Mallikarjuna Reddy said, “GIS is a software which has a wide range of applications especially in Geology useful in exploration of minerals, and assessing the land cover. Technology is providing a lot of employment opportunities to the students of geology at the PG level. Prof Reddy urged the students to utilize the opportunity to make a career in the field of GIS.
Registrar, Prof. Perati Malla Reddy, Principal of University College and member of the Executive Council Prof. B Suresh Lal, Dean, Faculty of Science Prof G Hanumanthu, CGO of Bourntec Solutions, USA, Yugender Gudur and President of Bourntec Solutions, USA Srujana Guduru, Geology Alumnus and President of UV Cyber Securities, USA Srikanth Parepally, President of UV Cyber Securities, India Srinivas Gudipelli were also present and promised to cooperate with the Geology Department.
