KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14, 2024: Senior Congress leader and former Jammikunta Agriculture Market Committee (AMC) Chairman Tummeti Sammi Reddy passed away due to a heart attack in Jammikunta town in the early hours of Saturday.
Reports reaching here said Sammi Reddy developed chest pain at around 1 am on Saturday and his family members shifted him to the Jammikunta Government Hospital. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
He joined the Congress party as a student leader with NSUI activities. A disciple of senior Congress leader and former Minister M Satyanarayana Rao, he had grown to the rank of APCC media coordinator in the integrated Andhra Pradesh. During then Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy’s regime, Mr Sammi Reddy was made the AMC chairman in Jammikunta. He crusaded against the illegal sand mining in the river Manair in the district.
Freshly, he was lobbying for the Karimnagar District Congress Committee president post. But, his sudden death has come as a rude shock to the family members, his well-wishers and the Congress party.
Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar expressed shock and grief over the sudden demise of Sammi Reddy. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and his friends. Congress party Karimnagar parliament constituency incharge Velichala Rajender, Huzurabad assembly segment incharge Vodithala Pranav and others expressed their condolences.
